Calculating God one of Canada's all-time best books
The Canadian bookselling chain Chapters / Indigo / Coles asked 150,000 members of its iRewards loyalty program to pick the top 100 Canadian-authored books of all time. Only one book published as science fiction made the list: my Calculating God, coming in at number 79. You can see the whole list here (I'm on page 4).

Congrads! I'm hoping to read Calculating God over the holiday break.
From the looks of the list, you're in some fine company there.
There is a large selection of Margaret Atwood's work listed, as well a some of Farley Mowat's work.
I'm amused that Robertson Davies' Fifth Business appears, in addition to the Deptford Trilogy, which contains Fifth Business.
Pierre Berton also has several books on the list.
Some distinguished company indeed.
Hi Rob:
I shop at Chapters all the time and they asked me in November if I wanted to sign up for their loyalty program. But I thought their $20 fee was quite high.
Still at least your in fine company.
Does that mean only one customer out of 150,000 picked "Calculating God" and 1 science fiction book made the cut?
No, Jim. It does not.
Congratulations, Rob! An excellent distinction.
I do notice the selection of Canadian authors seems to be quite narrow. Looks like we've got about 10 authors pounding out all of our homegrown literature. *wink*
Now if I can just eliminate the other nine, I'll be the top dog! :)
